Moraima Matus-Nicodemos Ph.D. is the Director of Student Services for the NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program (UGSP). The NIH UGSP provides scholarship support to students committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science research. Moraima supports the UGSP efforts by serving as a science resource and mentor to UGSP scholars. She also mentors many high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in NIH training programs. Additionally, she serves as the OITE program coordinator for the 'Scientists Teaching Science' course and workshop.
Moraima conducted genetics education and higher education research before joining the OITE team. She earned a B.S. in biology with a concentration in genetics from the University of Puerto Rico and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Science Education and Learning, Cognition, and Development from Rutgers University.
