Elena Hernandez Ramon is the Director of the Premedical Program in the Office of Intramural Training & Education. She has provided advice and strategies to trainees for successful MD and MD/PhD applications since 2013. She is also one of the co-directors of the NIH Academy on Health Disparities, and a co-advisor of the NIH-SACNAS Chapter, where she supports diversity and inclusion initiatives for trainees at the NIH. Elena considers herself a scientist, educational advisor, and mentor.
Elena received her MD from the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla School of Medicine, in Mexico; her Master of Science in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies, National Polytechnic Institute, in Mexico; and her PhD in Biology from the University of York, United Kingdom. She also completed a postdoc at the National Cancer Institute, NIH.
