Tenure Track Investigator

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is searching for an outstanding translational investigator for a Tenure Track Investigator position as part of the NINDS Intramural research program. NINDS is searching for a clinician-scientist with an innovative research track record in clinical/translational problems related to neuroimmunology and neurovirology.

About the position

The Division of Intramural Research at NINDS boasts strong clinical/translational programs in neuroimmunology, neurogenetics, surgical neurology, vascular neurology, and neuroimaging. There are also large and active communities in basic neuroscience, immunology, and virology in NINDS and the larger NIH Intramural Research Program, all of which can be leveraged to support the career of the successful applicant for this position. The incumbent will have access to the NIH Clinical Center to perform proof-of-concept clinical trials and natural history studies, in addition to resources of the NINDS Clinical Neurosciences Program, which include a dedicated Clinical Trials Unit to support this work. Laboratory facilities, shared research facilities, research funds, and salary are competitive with premier academic institutions, and salary will be commensurate with experience. Qualifications

In addition to performing clinical trials, the incumbent will be expected to develop and direct a lab-based research program that informs the clinical work. To accomplish this, they should have excellent skills in, and a track record of, structuring and communicating an independent, original, productive, and important research program. An M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, is required. NIH is committed to enhancing diversity at all levels, and a demonstrated commitment to increasing diversity in science is also important. Board specialty in neurology will be required.
