The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) is pleased to announce available postdoctoral fellowship positions within the T32-funded Cancer Prevention and Control Training Program (CPCTP). This highly collaborative and transdisciplinary program seeks to equip the next generation of scientists with the skills necessary to reduce cancer risk and improve the lives of patients through impactful research.

About the position

Program Goals - The CPCTP provides comprehensive training for postdoctoral fellows to conduct innovative cancer control research that spans basic science, clinical, and community settings. Our program emphasizes transdisciplinary approaches and team science to tackle cancer control issues, preparing fellows for successful careers in academia, government, or industry. Responsibilities - Postdoctoral fellows in the CPCTP will:

  • Engage in a 2-year research experience focused on cancer prevention and control, including training in scientific rigor, reproducibility, and ethical conduct
  • Conduct research in CPC fields, from bench research in cancer biology and carcinogenesis to population-based studies in clinic and community settings
  • Work with mentors across disciplines, gaining diverse perspectives and building skills for team science
  • Receive training in epidemiology, behavioral science, biological mechanisms, leadership, and grant writing
  • Participate in professional development, career planning, and job placement support to prepare for future independent research roles​

Qualifications

Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal degree in a related field (e.g., medicine, public health, epidemiology, behavioral science)

A strong interest in cancer prevention and control research

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in transdisciplinary team environments

Commitment to developing expertise in CPC and gaining experience in study design, hypothesis testing, and scientific communication
