Job

Post Doctoral IRTA

About the position

The HashtagHealth laboratory is searching for a Postdoctoral fellow with experience in social epidemiology, biostatistics and/or data science. Our laboratory leverages big data for social epidemiology research and practice. Several projects focus on developing new technologies for characterizing structural and contextual factors influencing health outcomes. For instance, we are leveraging Google Street View images and computer vision to characterize road environments and neighborhood built environments and using those indicators to predict fatal motor vehicle collisions globally. We are also building an AI-powered question-and-answer Rosie the Chatbot for racial/ethnic minority mothers. We are assessing the potential impact of Rosie on maternal and child outcomes with a randomized clinical trial with 400 racial/ethnic minority mothers across the United States. Additionally, we are utilizing geotagged X (previously Twitter) data to characterize cultural racism and other neighborhood social environments indicators. The successful candidate will be engaged with these projects and lead data management and analysis efforts to harness the power of publicly available big data resources to understand and intervene on health disparities. The postdoctoral fellow will lead high impact publications and could propose additional data science projects in this area. The project employs an array of methods including rigorous quantitative approaches involving large datasets, machine learning models, analysis of natural experiments, regression methods, and qualitative research methods to accomplish the research objectives. The postdoctoral fellow will gain experience in data management of large data sources, data analysis, manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary research collaborative.
