Job

Postdoctoral Fellowship - Stalled Replication Repair Group

Dr. Rajula Elango Alleva’s lab at the Genome Integrity & Structural Biology Laboratory (GISBL) at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) has one open postdoctoral position available in Spring 2025. The lab will work on defining the rules that govern the processing, repair, and restart of stalled/broken mammalian replication forks and determine the contributions of various DNA repair pathways to genomic integrity.

About the position

The stalled replication repair group will use mammalian cells (mouse embryonic stem cells) to explore the genetic requirements of a recently identified novel role for the Fanconi anemia (FA) pathway in the repair of a deleterious DNA lesion, DNA-protein crosslinks (DPCs) (Elango et al., NSMB, 2022). We will do this by using various cutting-edge techniques including CRISPR/Cas9 mediated gene-engineering and high-throughput sequencing techniques. These studies will allow us to exploit one or multiple steps of this repair pathway as a promising new target for therapy.
