Job

Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, & Nutrition

A Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position is offered in the Pediatric division of Gastroenterology at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center under the mentorship of Dr. Fang Yan. Our lab is interested in understanding the mutualistic relationship between gut microbiota and the host with implications for normal gastrointestinal development and response to injury and/or inflammation.

About the position

A postdoctoral research fellow position is now available in an NIH-funded laboratory at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Research from this laboratory is focused on understanding the mutualistic relationship between gut microbiota and the host with implications for normal gastrointestinal development and response to injury and/or inflammation. Research for this position will make a novel direction to elucidate the mechanisms by which human milk oligosaccharides regulate gut microbial homeostasis and intestinal epithelial integrity in adulthood and apply this knowledge to develop therapies for prevention and treatment of intestinal inflammatory diseases. This position is a great opportunity for researchers interested in postdoctoral training with a translational focus. Our ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in biological science and is knowledgeable about the basic mechanisms in cellular and molecular biology, immune regulation, and microbiology. The postdoc will be exposed to a supportive and outstanding research environment, focused on the translation of basic research to the clinic, and will gain invaluable experience across a wide variety of subjects. He or she will be working closely with a collegial, highly motivated, multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians.
