Pharmacological Characterization of Small Molecules in Medication Development for Fibrotic Disorders and Alcohol Use Disorders

About the position

A Postdoctoral fellow position is available for jointly working in the Section on Medicinal Chemistry (SMC) and Section on Fibrotic Disorders (SFD), National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). The SMC and SFD are involved in developing new therapeutics for alcohol associated disorders and fibrotic disorders. The candidate will work on scientific projects includes i) in vitro and in vivo pharmacological characterization of new molecular probes and drug like molecules ii) lead molecule optimization and selection process for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) considerations iii) in vivo preclinical efficacy testing in multiple fibrosis models and mechanistic studies. https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/research/intramural-research/labs/section-medicinal-chemistry https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/research/intramural-research/labs/section-fibrotic-disorders

Qualifications

We are seeking highly motivated and collaborative individuals with demonstrated productivity. Candidates will have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in pharmacology, cell biology, molecular pharmacology, biochemistry and related fields with zero to two years of post-doctoral experience. Preferred candidates will have experience with pharmacological principles, radioligand binding studies and cell-based assays. Experience in animal studies, pharmacokinetics would be of added benefit but not essential. The position is open to both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens, and fully supported by NIH intramural funds. The qualified candidates should have good oral and written communication skills. Successful candidates will be offered a stipend commensurate with experience as well as health insurance, as per NIH regulations. DHHS, NIH, and NIAAA are equal opportunity employers.
