NIAID conducts and supports a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. NIAID's Division of Intramural Research is recruiting for a three-year postdoctoral fellowship position with shared lab with the Prion Cell Biology Unit, located at NIAID’s Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Hamilton, Montana (1 year), and the Experimental Immunotherapeutics Unit (EIU), at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD (2 years).

About the position

The successful candidate will undertake a research program using human cerebral organoids to replicate key neuropathological features of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, an opportunistic infection of the brain caused by the ubiquitous human polyomavirus JCPyV. Situated in the Bitterroot Valley of southwestern Montana, RML offers state-of-the-art facilities for genomics, proteomics, DNA microarray, electron microscopy, and biological imaging in a recently renovated laboratory.
