Seeking candidates who aim to be at the forefront of behavioral research in health communication and precision medicine employing cutting edge immersive technology. We seek applications for a postdoctoral position in the Health Communication and Behavior Unit together with the Immersive Simulation Program within the Social and Behavioral Research Branch of the National Human Genome Research Institute, NIH, under the mentorship of Dr. Susan Persky.
About the position
Research foci include: Psychological, behavioral, and clinical processes related to integration of emerging health technologies and information into medical and community environments Communication and health promotion practices in the context of envisioned future genomics practice for prediction and prevention of common, complex diseases (e.g., obesity, diabetes) Approaches for diffusion of genomics technologies that address stigma and discrimination and support health equity Influence of genomic exposures on a range of socio-ecological levels including self-conception, health-promotion, healthcare practice, and social process Immersive technologies and their optimization for health research and therapeutic applications

Qualifications
Experience in experimental behavioral/social science research and strong quantitative skills are required. As such, we welcome candidates with doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines including psychology, communication, public health, and related areas. Experience with genomics and/or immersive technologies is preferred, however, neither is required. The post-doctoral fellow will be expected to gain understanding of both genomics and immersive technology within the position. Enthusiasm for collaborative, interdisciplinary research that is responsive to emerging topics in health and medicine is required. The fellowship includes a competitive salary, benefits, and a professional travel stipend. Length of the fellowship is negotiable.
