About the position
Postdoctoral fellowships are available at National Institute of Health in Bethesda, the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics, NHLBI (https://irp.nih.gov/pi/hong-xu). We are looking for inquisitive and motivated individuals to join us in exploring fundamental questions in genetics and development. The lab has been at the forefront studying mitochondrial genetics and inheritance in fruit flies. Current and future projects aim to study the basic principles guiding the inheritance of mitochondria in female germline, understand the evolutionary drive and developmental necessity of the maternal inheritance of mitochondrial genome, and explore the nuclear-mitochondrial interactions in health and diseases. We locate at NIH Bethesda campus. The NIH intramural research program provides an outstanding research environment, excellent support, and ample opportunities for young scientists to launch their own career. Applicants should have a PhD. and /or M.D. degree (or anticipate receiving their degree in the near future). Salary and compensation will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
