About the position
The National Institute on Aging (NIA), Laboratory of Epidemiology and Population Sciences located in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a talented and highly motived postdoctoral fellow to conduct population-based research in the field of sleep and aging epidemiology. The successful applicant will join the Sleep Health and Aging-Related Phenotypes (SHARP) Unit led by Dr. Tianyi Huang at the NIA Intramural Research Program (IRP). The research of the SHARP Unit focuses on elucidating the connection between sleep health and aging-related diseases, integrating traditional epidemiology approaches, multi-omics analysis, and advanced wearable technology. The postdoctoral fellow will work directly with Dr. Huang, and the primary responsibilities include: (1) lead data analysis in several longitudinal cohort studies, such as the UK Biobank, Healthy Aging in Neighborhoods of Diversity across the Life Span Study (HANDLS), and Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA); (2) present results at scientific meetings and prepare manuscripts for publication; and (3) provide assistance and support to the daily research activities of the SHARP Unit and the laboratory. The fellow will work with a multidisciplinary team, consisting of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, translational scientists, and clinicians. The successful applicant is also encouraged to develop new scientific questions that align with the research direction of the Unit and gain experience in grant writing. Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or related areas within the past five years, with strong statistical analysis skills using R, SAS or STATA, and excellent communication and documentation abilities. Candidates with an interest in sleep and aging epidemiology, as well as experience working with large cohort data, chronic disease epidemiology and omics analysis, are preferred. Salary will be commensurate with the NIH stipend schedule for postdoctoral fellows.
