The NCI Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to join the research group of Jiyeon Choi, Ph.D. in the Laboratory of Translational Genomics. Our group studies genetic susceptibility to lung cancer, focusing on mechanistic understanding of genomic data. The successful candidate will explore molecular mechanisms of genetic risk loci identified from population genetic studies such as genome-wide association studies (GWAS).
About the position
Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Functional Genomics, Molecular Biology, Lung Cancer Genetics Research Focus: 1. Identify and prioritize functional genetic variants, susceptibility genes, and affected biological pathways from lung cancer-associated genomic loci 2. Study susceptibility gene function in cell-based systems to understand lung tumorigenesis, while incorporating lung cancer-relevant exposures and gene editing tools 3. Navigate relevant functional genomics datasets, including those established in the lab (PMID: 38906146, PMID: 39266564)
Responsibilities:
- Lead/co-lead collaborative projects with multidisciplinary teams (bioinformaticians, biologists, statisticians)
- Design and perform experiments in both wet-lab and dry-lab environments with the main emphasis on the wet-lab aspect
- Mentor junior researchers (postbaccalaureate fellows or summer students) Opportunities for learning bioinformatic skills for analyzing high-dimensional genomic data will be available based on interest.
