Postdoctoral Fellow

The Unit on Cellular Stress in Development and Diseases (UCSDD), in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), conducts clinical, translational, and bench research in rare neurologic conditions, currently including CLN3 (Juvenile Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis) and MEHMO syndrome (Mental disability, Epilepsy, Hypopituitarism/Hypogonadism, Microcephaly, Obesity).

About the position

UCSDD is soliciting applications from post-doctoral level scientists interested in the following: Developing and implementing molecular, biochemical, and multi-omic approaches to assess how cellular stresses affect cellular development and human disease pathophysiology. Areas of focus include cellular stress responses that regulate mRNA transcription and translation. Knowledge of cellular biology and previous experience with performing experiments to evaluate the integrated stress response pathway and analyzing multi-omic data sets are highly desirable. Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells, iPSC-derived cells or organoids, and transcriptomic technology is also desired. NICHD provides excellent support core facilities. Qualifications

  • Applicants must possess a Ph.D. M.D./Ph.D., or D.Sc. in life sciences or a related field, and have completed fewer than four years of post-doctoral training.
  • Competence in planning and multitasking, and excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Both written and oral communication are required, as is the ability to work independently and in collaboration.
