Computational Fellow

About the position

At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of Computational Fellow with a focus on data science, bioinformatics, and data analytics. The successful candidate will lead innovative research projects, contribute to shared resources, mentor students, secure funded grants, and publish scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals. What you’ll do: • Conduct cutting-edge research in data science, bioinformatics, and data analytics, focusing on key challenges in healthcare, biomedicine, and related areas. • Develop and implement novel computational methods, algorithms, and tools for analyzing complex biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and clinical data. • Design and build interactive dashboards and visualization tools to communicate research findings effectively. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate computational techniques into research projects. • Drive technology development initiatives, including designing and implementing innovative solutions for biological data analysis. • Mentor students, fellows, and research staff, providing guidance, support, and training in data analysis techniques and methodologies. What we’re looking for: • A Ph.D. degree in a relevant field, such as bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, statistics, or a related discipline, with a strong background in data science, machine learning, and statistical analysis. • Demonstrated expertise in applying data science techniques and methodologies to biomedical research problems, preferably in areas such as genomics, personalized medicine, or clinical informatics/big data. • Proven track record of securing research grants and funding from external sources, as well as a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating research excellence and productivity. • Experience in mentoring and supervising graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, or research staff in research projects, including providing guidance, training, and support. *To see the full job description go to Position Description at the bottom of this posting.
