Event
English Communication for Visiting Scientists (language, US culture, US workspace culture)
Speaker: Laura Marler, OITE (& other various speakers)
About this event
Would you like to become more comfortable speaking English? The OITE offers a two-day basic spoken English class for trainees who have been in the United States less than one year. This class will be delivered every spring and fall.
During the course we:
- Discuss strategies for successful communication, especially in the scientific workplace
- Explore US culture, common greetings, etiquette, and more
- Practice English conversation in a variety of scientific settings and roles
- Explore resources to help trainees continue to improve their English during their time at NIH
The class takes place on 1/23 and 1/24 from 10 am to 5 pm each day. Participants need to be able to commit to both days of class.
If you have any questions about this course, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Laura Marler.
