Job
Director for the Epigenomics and DNA Sequencing Core Facility/Staff Scientist
Organization
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Research Triangle Park, NC
The Epigenetics & Stem Cell Biology Laboratory (ESCBL), NIEHS, is recruiting a Director for the Epigenomics and DNA Sequencing Core Facility. ESCBL supports NIEHS's mission by investigating fundamental mechanisms by which epigenetics (non-genetic modulation and alterations) influence chromatin architecture, transcription and gene expression in normal, cancer and stem cells, and provides insights into biological processes that modulate the effects of environmental exposures on human health.
About the position
The Epigenomics and DNA sequencing core facility in ESCBL provides NIEHS investigators on-site quick access to next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, such as RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Cut&Tag/Run, WGS, WGBS, scRNA-seq, scMultiome, Spatial transcriptomics, CITE-seq, Perturb-seq, Nanopore RNA and DNA sequencing, and PacBio sequencing, in order to address their research questions (https://junction.niehs.nih.gov/divisions/dir/resources/dna/dna-epi/index.htm). We are seeking a Ph.D.-level scientist with comprehensive understanding of and experience with NGS and related technologies to direct and manage the core facility. The director will be a NIH employee appointed to a time-limited, renewable position to support the long-term research of the Epigenomics and DNA sequencing core facility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain standard operation protocols
- Establish new or customized NGS methods and applications
- Manage and supervise core personnel
- Provide technical consultations to NIEHS investigators
- Establish contracts and partnerships with commercial vendors.
